PC Engineer

Overview/Job Description

We are looking for PC Engineer to work with our team helping our clients with the implementation, management, and support of Microsoft Windows based networks including: Desktop and Laptop Computers, Handheld Devices and PDA's, IP Phone Systems, Printers and business productivity applications such as MS Exchange/Outlook, MS Office, and ACT!. 

 

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Tasks will include:

  • Communications with customers and vendors
  • Basic computing support both onsite and remotely
  • System diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • End-user training (e.g., applications, phones, mobile computing)
  • End-user documentation for common support issues
  • PC/Laptop hardware, Windows O/S, and standard Microsoft Office application suite support
  • Corporate and end-user virus/spyware scanning, response, and repair
  • Mobile computing (remote access support, unique laptop issues, etc...
  • Phone adds/moves/changes, fax line troubleshooting
  • End-user PC backups/restores and server backups
  • Employee office relocations
  • Documentation of internal procedures

The ideal candidate will have good verbal and writing skills, and a strong desire to learn.    

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience in an IT Help Desk / Desktop Specialist roll. Specific hardware, software and network client administration experience required. Active Directory and telephony skills are a plus. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on technical, computer related subject matters i.e. technical documentation, checklists, company / client communications, projects, detailed and accurate resolution descriptions etc.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle the demands of multiple constituencies and must exhibit strong organizational qualities in all aspects of work.
  • Advanced knowledge of anti-virus, personal firewalls, recovery solutions and remote access is required.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent
  • Industry certification of MCP and A+ is preferred.

Reliable transportation is necessary and you must be able to lift 50 lbs. 

 

Hours and Travel

The person in this position is expected to work during normal business hours but may, as our clients’ needs dictate, be called upon to work during non-business hours (nights or weekends).  These non-business hour situations are typically infrequent and often known well in advance.

The person in this position will be on call during non-business hours on a rotational basis and will be provided with a cell phone by the company for this and related purposes.

This position requires periodic travel to client sites within Eastern Massachusetts, predominantly on the North Shore but periodically to Boston or the South Shore.

 

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position with medical benefits (Blue Cross HMO Blue) and educational assistance.  Base salary is negotiable.
